Valentine appears in only one of the Monster High movies which is 'Why do ghouls fall in love?'
This is his first appearance in the franchise and only appearance in any animated media.

Diary

Valentine's SDCC doll came with a diary that had a lot of information about him and allowed the fans to learn more about what happens to him after 'Why do ghouls fall in love?'. This is also big for his character because it introduces his love interest Spelldon as well as establishing his friendship with WhispThe Valentine and Spelldon Pride 2 pack of dolls is expected to come with diaries for both characters, which is a great easter egg for the fact that Valentine initially came out in his SDCC diary and Spelldon was first introduced in the diary too. This means there will be another set of diaries coming 11 years after his initial one.

Comics

Valentine is featured most heavily in the comics. In 2024, Valentine was featured in the Pride comic alongside Spelldon. In 2025, they continued this by releasing the 2025 Pride comics, which also included Valentine and Spelldon.Valentine shows up in the background of the main Monster High IDW comics but doesn't have any notible roles.In 2026 the 'Boomuda Triangle' comic series released which was solely about Valentine and Spelldon. This is a 6 issue short series.In the initial run of G1, Valentine was reintroduced to the story with a comic series called 'I only have eyes for you' where he tries to help his fellow students with their love-related problems, adapting a cupid-like role.

Facts

Valentines design was based on comic artist and musician Gerard Way. He is the singer of the band My Chemical Romance, creator of The Umbrella Academy, and an ex worker of Cartoon Network.Valentine was always planned to be a gay character and creator of Monster High, Garret Sander, wanted to make this more obvious in his diary but was told by Mattel that it 'wasn't the right time'

Comics

- Pride 2024- Pride 2025- Boomuda Triangle (2026)Spelldon is a character that is only ever seen in the comics. He was mentioned once in Valentine's SDCC diary but it was very brief, just stating his name. He was introduced properly with a design and all in the Pride 2024 comic.

Facts

Spelldon is the younger brother to in-universe popstar Casta Fierce.Even though Spelldons official design wasn't released until 2024, Monster High creator Garret Sander had shared concept art of him online.It took 9 years for Spelldon to get his first physical appearance in Monster High media after he was initially mentioned in the SDCC diary.
